I have always been a prolific writer, but solo piano music is something that flows directly from my soul—no matter where life takes me or how busy things get, the music simply refuses to stop.
My path has always been defined by the sharp and flat, the black and white keys of the piano. To me, music feels like a waking dream. It follows me, inspires me, and keeps me connected to a higher realm. These melodies dance in my subconscious, and each song is my attempt to bring that divine world into reality.
I know some people hesitate when they hear the word 'religious' music. But if that's you, don't worry—you will still fall in love with this album. • I certainly enjoyed "GRACE: Solo Piano Music for Prayer & Worship" the many times I listened to it in preparation for this review. Despite my agnostic beliefs, I had no issue with the overt spiritual/Christian source of the selections or James' devout and sincere liner notes.. While not truly minimalist or tone poem-ish in nature, I’d still slot this album as “early evening/late night” music, since for the most part, James plays it soft (in volume), low-key (in power and passion) and the melodies themselves evoke a feeling of peace and contentment. I don’t know if hymn “purists” will feel the same as I do, but I think the artist did something really smart here. By making the music this accessible, he’s getting his “message” across to a wider audience - or at least I hope so. Solidly recommended.Bill - Vermont, United States
