Major 13 Chords

Welcome back to the Music Theory series. This month we’re looking at the Major 13 Chord. It’s a really colorful chord and built on 5 different notes.

The Major 13 Chord is based on the scale degrees 1,7,9,11,13. In case of major C13 chord, it’s C B(flat) D F A.

A major 13 Chord can be built on any note on any major scale. Until next time practice building and playing your major 13 chords.
